Bonjour !
Ces deux derniers mois, j’ai été très occupée ! Mon stage à l’ambassade a été une expérience fantastique jusqu’à présent. Je prends actuellement des cours de langue de niveau C1 en français en formation politique et diplomatique, et j’apprécie vraiment d’utiliser mes compétences pour débattre et rencontrer des diplomates belges et français. Je travaille juste en face de la Commission européenne, au cœur de la politique européenne. Dans le cadre de notre travail, nous sommes souvent invités dans les institutions pour des discussions et des travaux – j’ai joint une photo du célèbre intérieur du Conseil européen.
J’ajouterai également quelques photos de la réception de Noël à la résidence de l’ambassadeur britannique, située juste en face du Palais de Bruxelles. La soirée était fantastique et le bâtiment est absolument magnifique. Nous accueillons souvent des diplomates et des négociateurs commerciaux dans ces salles, et j’aime y venir pour la bonne nourriture (et parfois le champagne) qui y est proposée.
Je passerai Noël en Normandie cette année, poursuivant mon immersion en France, et je joindrai des photos de mon séjour là-bas le mois prochain !

Bonjour !
In the past two months I have been very busy! My internship at the embassy has been a fantastic experience so far. Currently I am taking C1 level French language classes in political and diplomatic training, and I am really enjoying using my skills for debating and meeting with representatives from Belgium and France. I work just across the road from the European Commission, right in the heart of European politics. Through work we are often invited into the institutions for discussions and work – I’ve attached a photo of the famous interior of the European Council.
Over the past month of November and early December it has begun to get dark very early here, but, in the lead up to Christmas, Brussels has also begun to become filled with colourful lights that contrast with the gloomy but cosy Brussels atmosphere. I still haven’t had the best of luck with my living situation! The ceiling of my corridor caved in, which was quite a shock. Luckily, no one was hurt! We’re going through multiple repairs at the house almost constantly. My friends tell me that Brussels is well known for having a horrible renting market…
I will also add some pictures from the Christmas reception at the British ambassador’s residence just opposite the Palais de Bruxelles. The night was fantastic, and the building is absolutely gorgeous. We often host diplomats and trade negotiators in these rooms, and I love coming over for the great food (and sometimes champagne) on offer.
I will be in spending Christmas in Normandy this year, continuing my French immersion, and I will attach photos from my time there next month!
