Après deux semaines à Paris, j’ai commencé, finalement, à me détendre et profiter bien de cette cité incroyable. Je le trouve impossible de n’apprécier pas la beauté de Paris en pleine soleil, Le Canal Saint-Martin, Les Jardins de Luxembourg, les endroits beaux sont innumérables.
J’étais en recherche d’une chambre pour une semaine (pas comptant les 4 mois avant !), il vaut la peine et je suis dans une chambre adorable, dans un grand appartement, pour la durée de mes études. L’hébergement est limité à Paris, et j’ai eu beaucoup de chance de trouver ma chambre. Maintenant je commence de me sentir chez moi je peux aborder la tâche d’inscription pédagogique à l’université Sorbonne 4.
La Sorbonne est connue pour un tas de raisons positives, mais aussi pour une bureaucratie chaotique. Les bureaux sont éloignés dans 3 campus – Malesherbes, Clignancourt et Saint Michel – mais le bon côté ? Je connais parfaitement le plan du métro. Le processus d’inscription presque accompli, mes pensées se tournent vers les cours à venir. Sans doute cette année serai un défi intellectuel, et j’ai hâte de commencer, pour améliorer mes compétences linguistiques mais aussi m’habituer au système français.
Mes compétences en français sont déjà en train d’améliorer avec le besoin consistent de communiquer sans le recours de parler anglais, je trouve que la nécessité stimule l’amélioration, et actuellement j’oublie même de mots anglais ! Comme la plupart de compétences, le plus je connais, le plus je suis conscient de mon ignorance. Je me rends compte que dans l’apprentissage d’une langue on ne peut jamais croire qu’on a fini.

After 2 weeks in Paris, I’ve finally started to relax and take advantage of this incredible city. I find it impossible to not appreciate the beauty of Paris in full sun, the Canal Saint-Martin, Les Jardins de Luxembourg, there is too many beautiful places to count.
I was searching for a room for a week (not counting the 4 months before!), it was worth the effort and I now have an adorable room, in a big apartment, for the whole duration of my studies. Housing is limited in Paris, I was really lucky to find my room. Now I have begun to feel at home, I can face the task of inscription at Université Sorbonne 4.
The Sorbonne is known for many positive reasons, but also for its chaotic bureaucracy. The offices are spread out on 3 campuses – Malesherbes, Clignancourt and Saint Michel, but the bright side? I know the metro map off by heart. The inscription process being almost finished, my thoughts have turned to the classes to come. Without a doubt this year will be an intellectual challenge, and I can’t wait to start, to improve my French skills but also to get used to the French sytem.
My French skills are already improving thanks to the constant need to communicate in French, without the option of English, I find this necessity stimulates fast improvement, and I’m now finding myself forgetting words in English! Like most skills, the more I know, the more I know I don’t know. I’m starting to realizing that in learning a language one is never finished learning.
