J’ai toujours créé qu’Angleterre est le mieux endroit d’être pendant l’été – quand le soleil brille, tout le monde est de bonne humeur ! Cependant, j’ai maintenant réalisé que Paris peut rivaliser avec Angleterre. Pendant mon premier mois à Paris l’été a commencé et avec deux canicules, l’expérience est très différente de celle à laquelle on est habitué en Angleterre. Au fin de Juillet, la température a été enregistré à 42,6 degrés Celsius, qui a battu le record précèdent de 40,4 degrés en 1947. Bien qu’il puisse sembler fantastique et un beau jour de soleil, je peux vous assurer que avec le manque de climatisation à Paris, en travaillant au bureau n’est pas une bonne expérience !
Au début de la saison estivale, la France a célébré la Fête National de 14 juillet. En raison du fait que c’est un jour férié, toute la ville était remplie de joie et d’enthousiasme qui continuait tout au long du weekend. Il y a beaucoup des évènements qui se déroulent chaque année, comme de feu d’artifice à la tour Eiffel et la parade aux Champs Elysées. Mais, les évènements qui sont largement inconnu par les touristes, avec un petit peu ou rien de publicité, sont les bals des pompiers. A traves la ville, le 13 et 14 juillet, les casernes des pompiers ouvrent leurs portes pour une fête. Les pompiers travaillent dans le bar et après viennent à danser avec le public. Si on est à Paris pour la Fête Nationale, je recommande fortement d’y aller !

I always believed that England was the best place to be in the summer – when the sun is shining, everyone is in good spirits! However, I have now come to realise that Paris may rival that. In my first month the summer season has begun and with two heatwaves, it has definitely been a different experience to being in England. At the end of July, the temperature was recorded at 42.6 degrees, which broke the previous hottest record of 40.4 degrees in 1947. Whilst this may sound like a beautiful day of sunshine, with the lack of air conditioning in Paris it was definitely not enjoyable to be working in an office!
At the start of the summer season, France celebrated Bastille Day on the 14th July. As it is a public holiday, everyone in the city was filled with joy and excitement which lasted throughout the weekend. There are many events that take place, including the more well-known ones such as the fireworks at the Eiffel tower and the parade down the Champs Elysées. However, an event that seems to be hidden from the tourists, with very little or no publicity is the Fireman’s Balls. All throughout the city, on both the 13th and 14th the fire stations opened up for a night of partying. The firemen worked on the bars and later on in the evening came out to dance. If you are ever in Paris during the celebrations of Bastille Day I would highly recommend going to one of these!
