Dieser Monat war voller Höhepunkte und natürlich Schwierigkeiten! Der Lockdown geht weiter und manchmal war’s schwierig, weil der soziale Kontakt fehlt. Zum Glück wohne ich ich einer 6-er WG, was heißt, dass wir mal zusammensetzen können, und ich weiß, sowas ist heutzutage sehr begehrt! Ich habe wieder im Home-Office gearbeitet und habe viele zusätzliche Übungsstunden für die SchülerInnen wegen Prüfungen angeboten. Ich bin stolz auf mich deswegen!
Ich bin auch nach Ulm gefahren und dort habe ich eine neue Stadt in Deutschland erkundet, und was für eine Schöne! Ich besuchte das gotische Münster, dessen Kirchturm der Höchste in aller Welt ist. Im Fischerviertel genosse ich die alten Fachwerkhäuser neben dem Fluss, wo ich sogar einen Eisvogel gesehen habe – in Mitte der Stadt! Danach bin ich der ‚schönen blauen‘ Donau entlang spaziert, bis ich ganz zufällig beim Stadion des ‚SSV Ulms‘ gelandet bin. Irgendwie schaffe ich das jedes Mal in einer neuen Stadt… Ulm ist eine tolle Stadt und irgendwann würde ich auch zurückkehren. Die Architektur, Gefühl der Stadt und die zahlreichen FahrräderInnen waren alle sehr anlockend.
Am 06.03 war ich nochmal unterwegs, dieses Mal direkt in die Stadtmitte mit der U12 und dann mit der U34. Ich war im unbekannten Terrain in der Kesselstadt. Ich hatte einen sehr wichtigen Termin und zwar habe ich meine erste Impfung für den Schutz gegen das neuartige Coronavirus erhalten! Das war ein sehr, sehr spannendes Ereignis und auch ein voller Hoffnung. Es lief super schnell, war organisiert und die MitarbeiterInnen bzw. Freiwillige waren alle sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Ich habe die Spritze kaum gemerkt und trotz einer Nacht mit ziemlich heftigen Nebenwirkungen, war es im Allgemeinen gar nicht schlimm im Gegensatz zum ‚normalen‘ Anstecken.

The beginning of spring: extremely limited traveling and the first dose!
This month was full of high points and, of course, difficulties. Lockdown’s carried on and sometimes it was difficult because of the lack of social contact. Luckily, I live in a 6-person flat-share, meaning that we can just sit together and chat, something I know that is extremely sought-after these days. I’ve been working in home office and offered lots of additional practice sessions for the students as they had exams. I’m proud of myself for this!
I also travelled to Ulm and there I discovered a new city in Germany – and what a lovely one! I visited the gothic cathedral, whose church tower is the highest in the world. In the ‘Fisherman’s Quarter’ I enjoyed the old timbered houses next to the river, where I even saw a Kingfisher – in the middle of the city! Afterwards, I walked along the Danube until I coincidentally ended up at SSV Ulm’s stadium. Somehow, I managed to do that every time in a new city… Ulm’s a great city and I liked to return one day. The architecture, feeling of the city and the numerous cyclists were all pretty enticing.
On March 6th I was on the move again, this time directly into the city centre with the U12 and then the U34 on the underground. I was in unknown territory in the so-called ‘Kesselstadt’. I had a very important appointment and that was my first dose of the vaccine against the novel coronavirus! It was an extremely exciting event and one with a lot of hope. It went really smoothly, was well-organised and the workers and volunteers were all very helpful and friendly. I hardly noticed the injection and although I suffered with some quite severe reactions the night after, it was nowhere near as bad as catching it ‘normally’.
